Additional Details
Bacterial skin infection occurs when bacteria infiltrate hair follicles or injured skin, causing inflammation. Skin symptoms include redness, soreness, and tenderness, small bumps or boils, rashes, blisters, cracked/dry skin, swelling, stinging or burning sensation, pus production, and itching. Bacterial skin infections are usually minor and can be treated with topical medicines. For serious infections, an oral antibiotic may be required. Cellulitis (red and swollen skin), erysipelas (large skin patches), impetigo (red sores on the face), folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles), and carbuncles are all examples of common bacterial infections.
